Recently, I thought it was ironic to watch Mark T. Barclay’s congregation at Living Word International Church in Midland, Michigan add the United States Pledge of Allegiance to their churches liturgy. What strikes me is odd, it’s very odd indeed. Probably idolatrous!

Let’s listen in on what Doug Wilson has to say about churches who add the flag and the pledge allegiance.

Here is a video from Wilson, called Ask Doug: American Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance in Church?

I have read, watched, listened to Mark T. Barclay for the last 22 years, and it’s become more and more obvious that he is decisively confusing God’s people with many false teachings including teaching that the Godhead has changed and are not eternal co-equal and co-eternal persons in the Trinity. Yet I can only count a few other people who have enough guts to say something and they aren’t even pastors or teachers.

I hope in the next few years more will start saying something though and even pastors in the Mid-Michigan area, but then again most Christians are lazy, even pastors are to lazy to say something or just don’t really care. They don’t realize that when Barclay teaches heretically on the Trinity that it affects the whole Church by corrupting sound doctrine, because false teaching spreads fast.

So back to the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. I just think it’s very strange that Mark has added it to his liturgy and left out correct worship of the Trinity who alone is glorious and the only God, but this stems from not understanding who God is in the first place. If the Triune God is made up of parts and Jesus is just a part of God along with the Father and the Spirit, than it’s not the biblical God of Christianity and this is what Mark Barclay has done heretically on the Orthodox teaching on the divine Trinity.

Those that permit the Holy Spirit to be their Father. Those who will allow the Holy Spirit, remember he’s not a third Person, he is God made up of three parts just like…my son Josh and his soul is not some body else and his spirit is not someone else, and so I got to decipher…….Now there’s not three people, it’s just one Josh three parts. There’s not three Gods, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, he’s just one. He’s just got three parts. So this great Holy Spirit wants to father you.” Jesus, the Command Giver – Mark T. Barclay
